"The Approximate Distance Between" by Mark LaMonda

1 min read

The moon is 30 earths away,

give or take an asteroid or 2.

I like 30, cuz I can count 30s –

     30     60     90

Glad it’s not 28

     28     56     ---

The countability makes the moon accessible.

     For     me

you     are 10s --

10     20     30     40

I can count you forever.

The moonlight is just a reflection,

but it gets here in 1.26 seconds.

Don’t make me count that.

I like the moon, blame the sun

for the difficult sum.

You     4     me --

     instantaneous.

Your light

reflecting joy --

Amen.     Halleluiah.

1     2     3     4
